Privacy & data
This page explains what we store when you take part in the Milton Keynes UK City of Culture 2029 consultation survey, why we store it, how long we keep it, and what choices you have.
Who runs this survey
This survey is run as part of the Milton Keynes UK City of Culture 2029 bid. The data controller for the personal data described below is the MK 2029 bid team. The site is hosted at mk2029.bid.
What we collect
- Your written answers to each of the survey’s questions.
- Your email address, if you choose to provide one. We only ask for an email so we can (a) send you a one-time link to resume the survey on another device or come back later, and (b) optionally send you a copy of your submitted answers after you finish.
- A session cookie (a small text file in your browser) so we can keep your in-progress answers tied to your visit. This cookie does not identify you personally and contains only a random session ID.
- The dates and times you started, edited, and submitted your responses, so we know which version is the latest.
We do not collect your name, address, phone number, IP-based location, or any analytics or tracking data beyond what’s listed above.
Why we collect it
- To understand what people in and around Milton Keynes want from the City of Culture programme, and to use that input to shape the bid.
- To let you save your progress and return to the survey from any device using the email link.
- To meet our legal obligations under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Our lawful basis is consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Submitting your answers, or providing your email to save progress, counts as giving consent for the purposes above.
Emails we send
All emails are sent from info@mkculture2029.co.uk. There are only two:
- A resume link, sent once when you first save your email or request a fresh link from the resume page. We do not send a new email every time you continue.
- A copy of your submitted answers, sent only if you tick the opt-in box on the review screen before submitting.
We never send marketing or newsletter emails from this address.
Where it’s stored
Your answers and email are stored in a database on the same web host that serves this site, located in the United Kingdom. Backups are held for up to 30 days by the hosting provider. No personal data is transferred outside the UK/EEA.
Who can see it
- The Milton Keynes 2029 bid team and its appointed partners working on the consultation analysis.
- The site administrators, for technical maintenance only.
We will never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing.
How long we keep it
- Answers: until the bid process concludes (expected by end of 2029), after which they will be anonymised or deleted.
- Email addresses: deleted within 90 days of bid submission, or sooner on request.
- Resume-link tokens: expire automatically 7 days after issue.
- Session cookies: cleared when you close your browser, or after 30 days, whichever is sooner.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask us what data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete your data.
- Ask us to stop processing your data.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@mkculture2029.co.uk. We aim to respond within one month.
